Route97 Culture DIGITAL Road Trip
by November 21, 202016 FEBRUARY 2022 (Penticton, BC) – Today, Route 97 Culture announces the launch of their new digital series, Route 97 Culture Road Trip, highlighting live music in the BC interior, and featuring a myriad of up-and-coming Canadian artists – this project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada and FACTOR. The Road Trip series will be aired weekly across Shaw TV’s BC regional stations.
Kicking off on Monday, February 21 and continuing every Monday up until March 28, 2022 – the new series showcases six artists performing thirty minute concerts that take place at six unique venues along the Route 97 Highway in the British Columbia interior. Since the start of 2021, Route 97 Culture has been on a mission to engage with a number of business owners and cultural organizations regionally, to present artists in new venue settings. The goal? To open up the market and create new touring infrastructure for diverse, emerging, and established artists. By bringing together nineteen BC interior venue partners, and bringing more touring and recording artists through the region to attract crowds in 2022 and beyond – part one of their mission is already underway. This project naturally led the Route 97 Culture team to the creation of their digital series to showcase what has been done, and what can be done in the future.
The Route 97 Culture Road Trip begins with acclaimed recording artist Louise Burns, with her musicians Nik Pesut and Darcy Hancock performing at the Covert Farms Family Estate band shell in Oliver BC. This episode also introduces us to the owners of Covert Farms (Gene and Shelly Covert) and their magnificent 650 acre regenerative organic farm and winery. Louise is a singer-songwriter / producer who was a founding member of the internationally praised band Lillix. As we move along Highway 97 we encounter five more incredible artists performing in stunningly beautiful venues. The Road Trip series conveys what a lot of folks have been missing – a live music experience in an unique setting. The Route 97 Culture team hopes this series will inspire all of us to attend live shows, supporting emerging artists as soon as it’s safe to do so.
